Paul Wenglowsky grew up in the Midwest, in the small, rural town of Pell Lake, WI, which easily could have substituted for Mayberry. It was the type of town where everyone knew your name, people didn’t lock their doors at night and kids played outside from sunup to sundown. In middle and high school, he worked for his father at his lumber yard, where he was taught the importance of true customer service skills. Growing up in this atmosphere helped instill in him the virtue of honesty and the sense of community.
Before going to college, Paul worked in the service industry and from there he owned his own small restaurant for several years. It was at the restaurant that he learned the value of preparation and commitment. After leaving the restaurant business, Paul went to college and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science degree in history. He then went to the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and received his Master of Arts in Public History and Certificate in Museum Studies. After graduation in 2004, he moved to St. Augustine to work for the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Museum as the Director of Maritime Education.
Paul left St. Augustine in 2006 to become the Curator of Education for the Orange County Regional History Center. It was in Orlando where he met his wife, Maruja, and where his son, Nicholas, was born. The family’s goal was always to move to beautiful St. Augustine to raise their family, and they were fortunate for this to happen in 2013. Paul soon left museum work to concentrate on his real estate career.
